FAQ
Everything people reasonably want to know before trusting a review site — including exactly who owns this one.
Trust & ownership
Who owns MealPrepReviews?
MealPrepReviews.com.au is owned and operated by the same company that owns Foober (foober.com.au) and Vegan Soul (vegansoul.com.au) — two Australian meal delivery brands that compete with services covered on this site.
We hold those two brands to stricter rules than everyone else: they are badged "Owned by our parent company" every place they appear, they are permanently excluded from our ranked "best of" lists, and the same scoring rubric, review data and moderation rules apply to them as to every other brand — including negative findings, which we publish. We come at this market from inside it — production kitchens, cold-chain delivery, macro labelling — and that knowledge is only useful to you because the conflict that comes with it is printed right here.
Can a meal delivery company pay for a better score — or to remove a bad one?
No. Scores are computed by a published formula from dated review data and our own testing; commissions and commercial relationships appear nowhere in it. We do not sell score changes, coverage, rankings or removals — and if we ever run clearly-labelled "Featured" placements, they will sit in a fixed position, outside the rankings.
How does this site make money?
Affiliate commissions: when you click through to some services and purchase, we may earn a referral fee at no cost to you. We link to brands whether or not they pay us. The full breakdown — including which relationships exist and the rules that fence them off from the scores — is on How we make money.
Are you independent?
We don't use that word, because our parent company competes in this market (see the first question). What we offer instead is checkable: a public formula, dated and attributed sources, own-brand exclusion from rankings, and published test photos. Judge us on whether the working holds up.
The score
How is the Meal Prep Score calculated?
Weekly snapshots of each brand's aggregate rating and review count from ProductReview.com.au, Google and Trustpilot are combined with recency weighting (recent reviews count for more; the decay half-life is 12 months), volume weighting (3,000 reviews outweigh 30), and a fixed 25% editorial share from our own hands-on test rubric. The exact formula, weights and every change to them are published on the methodology page.
Why doesn't a brand have a score yet?
No score publishes until we hold at least 200 aggregated reviews across sources, two consecutive weekly snapshots, and one completed first-hand test of that brand. Until then it's listed as "Tracking" on Brands we track. We never publish placeholder or estimated ratings.
Where does the review data come from?
From the platforms Australians actually use: ProductReview.com.au, Google, Trustpilot and YouTube. Every figure is shown with its source, review count and the date we captured it, and links back to the platform. Those ratings remain each platform's data — we aggregate and attribute, we don't republish review text.
Do you accept free meals or samples from brands?
Our scored test orders are purchased normally, like any customer's. If a brand ever supplies anything free outside that process, it will be disclosed on the page and kept out of the scored rubric.
Practical
My favourite service isn't listed — can you add it?
Yes — email hello@mealprepreviews.com.au. Absence from the roster means we haven't verified that brand's review data yet, not a judgement against it.
I found an error — a stale price, a wrong number. What do I do?
Email hello@mealprepreviews.com.au. Corrections are applied to the page with a dated note in its changelog — not silently.
I work at a meal delivery company. How do we engage with you?
Tell us when your pricing, menu or delivery zones change so our data stays accurate. We don't sell score improvements or coverage — please don't ask. Partnership and affiliate matters: same email, and note that commercial relationships never touch the scores.
